You nailed that we often are so focused on a player's individual production that we lose sight of the FACT that what matters is their impact on their team's production. Basketball is a team game that the collective WE focuses on the individual instead.
i completely agree. dyson daniels is really the most important player in this series for the hawks in my eyes. i do think quinn snyder is a bad coach at this point, but this hawks team plays amazing team basketball that relies heavily on everybody playing their role and dyson has a very difficult one. he takes a lot of initial matchups with brunson and has put the man in the torture chamber all while being an incredible connective piece on offense. glad to see him get his recognition.
I think people seem to misconstrue a player like a Vanderbilt with 0 offensive utility (Can’t screen, cut, etc) and think that just being a bad scorer is the same as that. Which obviously isn’t true it’s about what utility you can actually provide in your role like you said
